Ordering Info
Thank you for choosing Nature's Hatchery for all your poultry needs! We ship birds on a weekly basis all year round. Well over 400 varieties are available, shipping as day olds, juveniles, and mature birds. We welcome your special orders, and offer started birds of most varieties for your convenience. Due to postal restrictions, birds shipping to Guam, Virgin Islands, ID, MS, NJ, ND, PA, RI, and TX must be less than 5 weeks of age. If orders of juvenile birds are needed by a specific date, we recommend ordering 8 weeks in advance. We do not usually export birds or eggs. We accept most major credit cards.

Minimum orders:
You must order 15 or more birds if you order online. You can call us if you wish to order less than this minimum. We do ship as few as few as 2 chicks.
You can combine any mixture of birds in an order unless otherwise noted in the breed description. The minimums are as follows:

If ordering a mix of species:
  • Meat Turkeys: any quantity
  • Rare Turkeys: 10
  • Chicks: any quantity (With few exceptions: see breed descriptions.)
  • Guineas: any quantity
  • Ducks & Geese: any quantity
  • Total number or birds must come to 15 or more if ordering online.

If ordering only one specie:
  • Turkeys: 10
  • Chicks: 15
  • Guineas: 15
  • Ducks & Geese: 6

When ordering from this catalog or online, the total number of birds you need to order to keep the shipment warm is 15 birds. You can mix and match any varieties, such as waterfowl, chicks, turkeys, and guineas. Please observe minimums for pheasants and gamebirds. If you wish to place an order of less than 15 birds, you will need to call us, as we have special pricing and services for the small orders. For orders of about 5 birds or less, the pricing starts at $10.00 per bird plus shipping. If ordering only one specie, (e.g. geese or turkeys), please observe minimums on order form.
We will ship by overnight express or put a heat pack in with your order if necessary. We do guarantee 100% live delivery on all orders, losses are very rare. Should there be a problem with any size shipment, we will do our 100% best to make sure that you are satisfied. Our post office is very helpful and does their best to get your birds to you in the best condition possible. Once the birds enter the mailstream, however, we do not have any control over the shipment.
If you see a date on your order, that is the ship date that we have scheduled your birds to ship out on. No date given verbally is a confirmed ship date until it is put on your receipt. We often give you an approximate date that birds can ship on when your order is placed, before you receive your confirmation, but please be aware that we are working with live products There are many variables and although it rarely occurs, at times we do have to change a shipping date. If you need your birds by a certain date, feel free to request it on your order. We will call you if we need to change it.
You will be called the day your order ships to confirm that your chicks are on their way. Shipping often takes one to three days from that point. It is a good idea to start your brooder and call your post office to let them know that your chicks should be arriving soon. Even though your phone number will be on the box, leave your name and phone number with them in case they need to contact you. When your order arrives, they will hold it at the post office and ask you to come and pick it up. Make sure your brooder is warmed up and there is plenty of room-temperature water on hand. Bring a water jug or jar of warm sugar water (mixed in a ratio of 1 part sugar to 3 parts water) with you in case there are any ‚droopy‛ chicks. Once they drink this electrolyte out of the cap, they will be up and running around in no time!
Be sure to put the chicks in a draft free enviromnent, with plenty of unmedicated chick feed and water (use your sugar water mix for the first day to get them off to a good start). Make sure that waterfowl do not overdrink on arrival, or come into contact with any medicated feed, as it will kill them. Never feed ground grains, flour, or salt to your chicks- they can only live on commercial chick feed. If your feed store does not have breed-appropriate feed (Such as waterfowl feed for ducks, & turkey starter for poults,) all breeds can be raised sucessfully on high-protein broiler feed or a flock starter.
